Print still matters
In this era of the endless algorithmic scroll, the print magazine is a countercultural sanctuary of attention. Magazine and newsstands have disappeared across the country making it common for large American cities to have no place to buy a print magazine. But it doesn’t have to be this way.
Introducing: The Free Magazine Library. A new community hub where, through the small act of taking a magazine and leaving a magazine, we can help revive print media. The first Free Magazine Library was built in the print media desert of New Haven, CT, in August 2026. We hope it is the first in a movement. To get started building your own Free Magazine Library, donate to the cause, have your library placed on our official map, or request a micro-grant (up to $50) for supplies, reach out to founders Oliver Egger and Peter Fulweiler at freemagazinelibrary@gmail.com
